After reading This engadget article
i could not hold back anymore and switched by blog theme once again. Originally it was ‘Pink!’ by Jordan Elver but i shamelessly ripped and modified it a bit so that it now features a T-Com style magenta ‘Z’ insignia. ;-)
Go get it here if you like it. Works for me with Typo 5.0.3 at least.

Ok so, my RSS feeds were br0ken.
After some typo database migration issues - up and down, back and forth - i thought i had won the war and my blog seemed to be running smooth again, but i missed out one essential battle it seems…
Ok now this is where things get odd:
While running typo version 4.1.1 via fastcgi on lighttpd all my RSS feeds seemed to work but none of the feedreaders got updated with anything new. Strange right?
I finally did not only look at the content but also on the headers that the server was giving out and noticed that even so the content was all well formatted and up to date the server was giving it out with a 404 response code thus causing all fetchers out there to do an early stop, they just ignored the rest understandably.
Ok now guess what the funniest part is…
The same thing did not happen when i started the mongrel server via ‘script/server’.
This is why you are watching lighty mod_proxy in action here, forwarding all blog queries to the mongrel server.
Web2.0 is simply a nightmare to debug and i don’t have the time for it at the moment, any takers? No? Well, go figure where this will end. ;-)

ok my blog is back again, and it’s still on typo.
I had some trouble with typo and the sqlite3 database it was running of. Seems to be a known bug with Ruby on Rails and at some point while debugging it i got so frustrated that i said i was gonna write my own blogging software. Ah well no, as you might have noticed i had a text-only live export of the database working on this URL but i never had the stomach or time to really get something remotely nice working. So here i am back with RoR and typo.
My Tip for typo: run it on mysql, and don’t every try to be smarter as typo for it is not much forgiving at all. ;)
Changes to the database can be your nightmare or redemption..
Oh well i think i could go on for hours without really telling anything so i just stop here.
Anyway, you have been warned.

Now i like this theme much better - its graphics are still fixed width but at least with the navbar on the right my articles can grow out of boundaries to the right without ruining it.
As for how i like typo: v3.99.4 is nice, it does the live search right and has some comment anti-spam feature which i didn’t have a chance to try out yet for i don’t get any comments. Hey where are you heise-trolls? ;)
24MB RSS memory usage, thats ok i guess.

My previous blog entry revealed revealed some minor css problems it seems. Still i like the current theme but i guess i’ll have to work on it a bit.
Oh yes talking about typo themes:
